DIY moisturizing liquid hand and body soap

January 21, 2018 by Rebekah 1 Comment

Do you struggle with dry skin or eczema?  Do you want a DIY natural hand and body wash/soap?  This DIY is for you!  Back in 2014/2015 I started making the hand and body soap for my family.  I primarily started doing it because of my oldest son.  He can get eczema really easily since his skin is so sensitive.  I had tried so many ‘natural’ and pediatrician recommended hand and body soaps for him to no avail.  All of them ended up drying his skin out and causing a flair up of eczema.  Thankfully, I have come up with a concoction that works for him and my whole family!  I started with this recipe for inspiration: https://pronounceskincare.com/diy-moisturizing-antibacterial-hand-soap-leaves-your-hands-silky-smooth/

Fat-free, vegan, crock-pot beans that taste like refried beans

January 20, 2018 by Rebekah 2 Comments

Who doesn’t love a good burrito?  Unfortunately, buying them in cans bothered the tummy of my hubby since he is allergic to the aluminum cans.  Thankfully, back in 2014/2015, I discovered they are very easy to make for yourself in a crock-pot. It’s also a super cheap meal since the main ingredient, which is dry beans, is incredibly inexpensive to buy in bulk. This is LITERALLY one of the best, cheapest, and easiest dinner’s.

DIY boo-boo spray and antibiotic ointment

January 2, 2018 by Rebekah 2 Comments

I started making my own boo-boo spray (or first aid healing spray) and antibiotic ointment around 2014/2015.  I did it for a variety of reasons.

  1. The amount of chemicals in many store bought antibiotic ointments and sprays makes me uncomfortable.
  2. We have sensitive skin in my family and I found the store-bought stuff would sometimes cause skin reactions or flare ups of eczema.
  3. It’s cheaper to make it yourself!

Bell pepper spaghetti sauce

December 29, 2017 by Rebekah 2 Comments

I came up with this recipe as an alternative to the typical tomato filled spaghetti sauce since my oldest son is allergic to tomatoes.  To be honest, the first time I made it I wasn’t sure how it would turn out, especially since I didn’t follow a recipe and just winged it.  But, one of my friends had suggested it as an alternative to tomato sauce.  I had made tomato sauce many times from scratch so I figured bell pepper sauce wouldn’t be too much harder.  It turns out my whole family prefers this sauce to regular tomato spaghetti sauce!  Hooray!  So, even if you don’t have anyone in your household that is allergic to tomatoes, give this recipe a shot.  You might just discover you found a new favorite sauce to put on your pasta or veggies.
