This blog was once called SheaButter Sarcasm Sunshine. But now it’s simply called Herbivore Homemaker. Why the change? When I first started my blog on August 14th, 2017, I knew nothing about blogging but I wanted to give it a try. I came up with a blog name that listed some of my favorite things because why not? I had a lot of varying ideas jotted down for my blog and wasn’t entirely sure what direction to take with it. In no particular order, I started sharing my thoughts and information with the internet (let’s be real though, it’s mainly been friends and family that have read my blog).
One of the potential blog ideas was why I could never give up dairy cheese (at the time I was vegetarian). Fast forward to January 2018, when I went vegan. It started as a year challenge, but I quickly realized it was more than a diet challenge but rather a lifestyle. Initially, I was really more plant based because I didn’t think about the changes that needed to be made in my life to help the animals beyond a plant based diet. Being vegan is about doing the least harm to animals as realistically possible in ALL aspects of life (not just diet) and that is what I strive to do and what I plan to do for the rest of my life. I have made mistakes and done things that aren’t entirely vegan as I have learned and grown on my journey. But I learn from my mistakes and do better when I know better. I am vegan because I choose to be vegan and because I want to be vegan. Yes, I could eat meat, dairy, or eggs if I wanted to. But I choose not to. Due to these lifestyle changes and gaining clarity on the direction I wanted to take with my blog, I realized I wanted my blog to reflect those changes. There are still a few posts that include beeswax or honey containing products that were posted before I went vegan. I plan to update those once I find suitable replacements. That requires some testing things out on my part which takes time. So, that explains the herbivore part, but what about the homemaker part? I used to write funny (well I tried to be funny anyways) parenting blog posts, but now I really want to focus my efforts on what is vegan AND relevant to homemaking. I plan to remove any parenting posts and put them on a new blog (I’ll link that blog whenever I get it completed with my hubby’s help). This blog will focus on vegan gluten-free recipes, and also DIY, money saving, and so on. My posts on home-birth will remain and I hope to write some pregnancy related posts, but I feel those are relevant as many home-makers are mothers. Anyways, what was meant to be a short blurb is quickly becoming a long rambling, so I am going to wrap it up. If you have anything you think I should write about that would be relevant to this re-branding, please let me know in the comments below or through email. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and just for sharing in my journey as I share it through my blog. Goodbye to SheaButter Sunshine Sarcasm and hello to Herbivore Homemaker!
